Genius album cover artist Storm Thorgerson, most remembered for his Pink Floyd covers –has died aged 69 after losing his battle with cancer.

Who can forget the iconic giant inflatable pig flying over Battersea Power Station on Animals and the simple, yet unforgettable cover for Dark Side of the Moon?

Floyd drummer Nick Mason praised his childhood friend’s work ethic on BBC.com: “Two days before he passed away, and by then completely exhausted, he was still demanding approval for artwork and haranguing his loyal assistants.”

As well as Floyd albums, Storm also produced standout covers for Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel and relative newcomers Muse.

Storm died surrounded by family and friends on Thursday. RIP.

Posted By: Dave Wilson · 4/11/2013 11:07:00 AM

The British Sunday Times confirmed that Sir Paul McCartney is the richest musician from the UK & Ireland, especially when combining his and his wife's fortunes.

Sir Paul and American heiress Nancy Shevell are estimated to be worth a combined $1billion plus change, and this is the 25th consecutive year that the ex-Beatle has topped the richest domestic musician list.

U2 come in at third with a combined worth of just over $750million. Guess those Facebook shares of Bono’s didn’t do as well as expected! The full 100 list is to be published on Sunday, 21 April, but here’s a preview that includes the top ten

From the snippets released ahead of the full list’s publication names like Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page and Robert Plant do not feature in the top ten, but The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger and Keith Richards both make the list at 5th and 8th respectively.

Forget the money though. ...
